CC: The Beach

With everyone beginning to talk about spring break, I can't get my mind off the beach and warm weather. While I love winter clothes, spring and summer are my favorite seasons. Having said that, most of my wardrobe consists of spring and summer clothes. It's only January, but there are some really great spring pieces out there right now.
+ Tory Burch Kaley Dress - available in shorts, here
+ Joie Annabeth Top - pattern also available in pants
+ Tory Burch Kira Flat Sandal - available in two different colors!
+ Illesteva Leonard Matte Black w/ Blue - black and blue is my favorite color combo... I think I need these.
+ David Yurman Starburst Ring - really unique collection!
+ Vince Striped Sweater - favorite brand of sweaters!
+ Tory Burch Large Cosmetic Case - I'm planning on traveling a lot this summer, so this would be perfect!

NARS Final Cut

NARS Final Cut Collection just hit Nordstrom and if you're into pinks then you'll definitely want it! One of my good friends, loves pink and I know she'll be getting some of these products soon. To me, NARS creates some of the most amazing colors. I'm a big fan of their eye shadows! Blush #2 is my favorite!

Midi Monday

Midi skirts had quite the moment in 2013 and I hope they're here to stay. In my opinion Blair Eadie was a true trailblazer, for she wore them several times on Atlantic-Pacific in 2013. Tibi's were the most popular in 2013, especially the splatter print skirt. While I love prints, I would opt for the navy or black so I could wear my patterned tops with them. So, are you a fan of the midi skirt? If so what kind would you purchase?

For more ways to style them visit With Love From Kat, as she wore her black Tibi one last week!

+ 3.1 Phillip Lim Striped Dress (Phillip Lim is currently my favorite designer)
+ Zara Pleated Mini (love this color!)

Round Two?

Polar Vortex Round Two? I was in NYC for the first round and it was absolutely freezing. I was expecting that to be the coldest weather I experienced this winter, but I might be wrong. While it won't be snowing here in Tuscaloosa, it's going to be very cold. Low of 19 degrees to be exact. This post features all the things I wish I could be wearing right now, preferably in the city.

Doubling Up

If you haven't already noticed wearing matched separates are becoming quite a trend. The first time I saw the look was when I was on Pinterest and to be honest I wasn't too thrilled. Then I began to see the trend more and more often. Shopbop did a lookbook earlier this month, Mary Summers from MAS Fashion wore the trend a couple of days ago and then Joie came out with the look. Being that Joie is one of my favorite contemporary brands, I absolutely adored the look they created.

Shop my picks here:
Joie: Top, Skirt  -- Josh Goot Top, Skirt -- Alexander Wang: Top, Skirt -- DVF: Blazer, Shorts -- Jill Stuart: Bustier, Shorts --  Giambattista Valli: Top, Shorts

SAG Fashion

Lupita Nyong'o was truly a winner Saturday night at the SAG Awards. She walked away with the award for best supporting actress and best dressed. Lupita wore a stunning turquoise blue Gucci gown and she looked absolutely flawless. I just cannot get over how beautiful this dress is! Not to mention her matching eyeshadow and berry stained lips.

Other favorites include Elizabeth Moss in Michael Kors, Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan Atelier and Anna Gunn in Monique Lhuillier.

Color Love

This week I'm craving all things black and blue. I've talked about this color combo before, but this version is more sleek and refined.

+ Pendleton Beach Towel. One word describes this towel... sick. The pattern is absolutely amazing.
+ J.Crew patterned shorts, yes please.
+ Parker Kaitlyn Dress. I am seriously craving this dress, it's like it was made for me.
+ Tibi's new leopard is amazing. You can easily dress it up or down.

Clutches

First off how lame is the phrase "that's so clutch"...? "Clutch" was a pretty popular term in 2013 and I'm hoping to only hear it when talking about bags in 2014. Anyone with me? However, it made for a perfect little blog post. Anyways... whether you like them or not clutches are looking to be quite popular this year. Clare Vivier's became wildly popular with bloggers last year, but I think we will begin to see them more commonly used. While I don't have one, they're definitely on my radar.

Caught My Eye: Veda x Madewell

Indeed this collaboration did take place and now Madewell is giving us the gift of a sale. While I was perusing their sale (extra 40% off all sale) I stumbled upon this and knew I had to share. It's kind of perfect... Both leather and jean jackets are wardrobe musts and this jacket is the perfect mix. For a casual winter look I'd pair it with an Equipment top and black jeans. For a casual spring/summer look I'd pair it with a simple tee, jean cutoffs and Loeffler Randall leopard espadrilles. So, what are you're thoughts on this?

And The Winners Are...

Last night was the 71st annual Golden Globe's and I, of course, began watching the red carpet arrivals two hours before the actual event. My immediate favorite was Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street in Gucci. Amy Adams was another favorite, because who doesn't love a good Valentino, color-block look? Lupita Nyong'o had a major fashion moment in a Ralph Lauren dress that included a cape. Cate Blanchett's Armani dress was simply stunning, but I don't know how I feel about the back... Leslie Mann's dress was the most gorgeous lace and peplum gown. It was classy and elegant and I adored it. Lastly, Elizabeth Moss went wild with a J. Mendel dress.

Some other favorites include Emma Roberts in Lanvin and Kerry Washington in Balenciaga

Favorite Speeches: Jennifer Lawrence, Matthew McConaughey, Amy Poehler, Cate Blanchett
Best Accessories: Jessica Chastain's necklace, Reese Witherspoon's earrings, Cate Blanchett's earrings
Oddities: Johnny Depp went blonde and Jennifer Lawrence's date was Nicholas Hoult

Sunlight

While all of yesterday's picks for "CC" could easily be my Friday Favorites, I have a complete new list for y'all!
+ This look -- for more on crop tops head over to The Style Scribe where Merritt shows us the cream of the crop (punny, I know)
+ Monochrome perfected by Miranda Kerr
+ These Four Agreements
+ This room is perfect. (butterfly rug!)
+ Intrigued by this brussel sprout recipe
+ Can't stop listening to Thunder Clatter by Wild Cub
+ Tibi's Early Spring collection -- particularly this dress and top. Oh and a leather dress too.
+ Blair Eadie was on The Coveteur
+ Cheetah Is The New Black got a makeover and I love it! Congrats Alicia!
+ Decided that Proenza Schouler's PS1 bag is basically a briefcase and when I graduate and get a job I definitely need one. Right? I had this epiphany when I saw this photo.
+ Lastly, the sun coming out and this cold weather leaving!

CC: Spring

With temperatures getting down to the low teens this week there's nothing I'm craving more than spring.

+ The smell of fresh gardenia's is one of my favorite smells and this Diptique candle smells just like them.
+ That grey Madewell tee would be perfect with either white jeans or light cutoffs. I recently got it in black for $15 (total steal).
Loeffler Randall's resort collection is perfection. I'd love to get that tote for $395.
+ Really loving clutches lately, more about them next week.
+ Two words. Neon Aztec. This skirt by Nannette Lepore has my name written all over it. I'd pair it with a simple gray t-shirt.
+ If you haven't already heard about Westward Leaning sunglasses they are Olivia Palermo's go-to. They only come in one style, the wayfarer, but feature different colors and textures. When purchased $10.00 goes to a specific cause. For example, the pair featured above goes to Reporters Without Borders.
Bobbi Brown has perfected the palette and this one screams spring.
+ Everyone needs a simple pair of dangly gold earrings and these Alexis Bittar ones are ideal.
+ Tory Burch's fun printed shorts would be perfect for spring days and summer nights!
+ Lastly, these Joie sandals are so pretty and can easily go with the majority of my wardrobe.

Go!

I'm going to be completely honest and say this is not what I was planning on posting! I was going to debut a new series today, but whenever I try to upload the images they get distorted and look terrible. But a shopbop sale is always a crowd pleaser so here are some of my sale picks.

+ Leopard Equipment! Rule: When Equipment is on sale, you buy it! Another version here
+ Black Rag & Bone Booties -- rarely find these on sale...
+ Love these Joie Pants, I think you could easily wear them year round
+ Pretty Lace Dress for a great price
+ Tucker Tunic in a gorgeous print
+ Alice & Olivia Striped Midi Skirt (more on Midi Skirts next Monday)

Tuxedo Dressing

Do as the master says, right? Rachel Zoe has said that we should join the #Tuxrevolution and I think it's time we did. If you haven't already noticed the "Tux Dress" is becoming a trend and I hope it doesn't go away any time soon. So what are your thoughts on tuxedo dressing?

P.S. -- 3.1 Phillip Lim has some great Tuxedo options too!

"Official" Spring Colors

At the end of last year, which wasn't too long ago, Pantone announced the "it" colors of Spring. Radiant Orchid was announced as THE color of spring... Honestly, I'm not a fan of purple, I never have been and I only own one purple thing. It's a Zac Posen shirt I got on super sale at Saks in high school. So what do you think of the colors of spring? Of course my favorites are dazzling and placid blue. Do you have any favorites? I'd love to hear!

First CC of The Year

First round of "CC" this year! I can genuinely say I'm craving all of these items. First saw those Dannijo earrings on Luella & June and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them. They cost quite the pretty penny so I might get these instead. That RM wallet is on sale and I'm really tempted to buy it - mine's see better days. Tibi makes the best midi skirts and I seriously love this lace one. Obviously my affection for snakeskin hasn't gone away... Love both this DVF bag and pair of shorts (that print comes in a dress, skirt and tops too). I NEED those framed butterflies {my obsession, if you didn't know}. Those Loeffler Randall espadrilles are calling my name. Yes, I still need to send some thank you cards out from Christmas... whoopsies. All blue with a cream Celine - SWOON. And lastly, who doesn't enjoy a good bubble bath?

And gosh I can't wait to switch over to Wordpress! Everything is so much cleaner and the images lay flat... unlike above. Be sure to stay in touch with TBB so you know when the big day is!

One Year

Happy New Year!!

As some of you may know this marks the one year anniversary of having TBB. I've learned so much this past year, connected with some really great people and I'm overall happy with my decision to start The Blue Bijou.

Quick Recap: Had some MAJOR bloggers on here dishing out advice and style tips {Molly Miller from APoT, Krystal Schlegel, Merritt Beck from The Style Scribe and Molly McConn from Bridget's Own Diary}. Completed 100+  posts. I made it on Tucker by Gaby Basora, Shoshanna and La Marque Collection's websites. Was exposed to some great brands. Connected with some of the sweetest bloggers out there. Oh and Rachel Zoe retweeted me... Emily Schuman too!

What To Look Forward To: Completely new The Blue Bijou. That's right! - In the coming months there will be a completely new TBB. It will also be under my own domain {yay!}. Also, I hope to provide you with more content. Let's be honest... I slacked a lot once I started school. But I promise to have quality images and content on here. Perhaps a guest series because those are always popular. What else do you hope to see more of on here? I have some ideas, but I'd love to hear from y'all!
